Sounds like a scam... junk it.
Reply:Check your Live ID the usual way, do not use a link in the email. If there's anything wrong with your ID, it will tell you.

Most likely the email is a phish, trying to get you to give your Live ID password to their fake Live server (the link in the email).

when windows live hotmail is loading, there is a link at the bottom that says "switch to normal hotmail" or something like that. It's oretty simple but you do have to do it everytime you log in.
Reply:okay, windows has taken over MSN, so now they have changed it from MSN to Windows Live. The change is permanent until somebody buys it from Microsoft and changes the name back to MSN.

Everytime I go to the sign up page it only gives you the option of live.co.uk or hotmail.co.uk.

I would suggest using a proxy so it thinks you are in the US this way you are sure to get just .com.

The easiest way to do this if you don't want to set it all up, is to use a program called hotspotshield:

when you are installing beware as it wants to install toolbar, just uncheck that. Ads will show when you are running but not when you are not. Just uninstall it after you do it.

You should just ditch Hotmail completely and go to Gmail. It destroys Hotmail, and can be easily used with Outlook, and Thunderbird.

Is there a setting I can change??? I have the McAfee Security Center installed on my computer but the only way I can log into hotmail is to right click on the little M at the bottom of my screen and disable the privacy service which then indicates on the security center I am at risk. Thanks:)

Contact the helpdesk and try and work it out with them, because there's nothing else you can do yourself to unblock your addresses, other than starting a new account and deleting the blocked ones.

I some how was tempted and gave it a try on the latest version “Windows Live Hotmail”.

But after I installed it, it just opened up the initial page, and then just sits there with no further movement and or action at all.

I can not even read my mail, never mind any other moves.

As I recalled when I tried the Yahoo Bata, when I have had trouble, I can go back to the oregional version. But now, it seems I have no other option at all.

It is not from Hotmail. It is spam and someone is trying to get your login info.

If Only I used MSN Hotmail, But its been changed to Windows Live Hotmail.......So anyway, back to my Question...Suppose I E-mail Somebody, lets say a real Person that I know, If I E-mail that Person, usually In The Sent Folder, It will show the person Who I Just E-mailed...But it Doesn't!

after when I compose an email, usually there should be listed all the e-mails that I have Sent, But It wont show up in my SENT Folder for some odd reason, any idea why???

is it like that on yours?

Howcome when I E-mail someone on Windows Live Hotmail, My Sent Folder is Always Empty?
Mine use to do that too. It's a default setting to 'not save a copy' and you have to set it so save one whenever you send an email. Click the options button with the down arrow and then the more options. On the next page scroll down to customize your mail then 'save sent messages'.

There are lot of fraudsters on the Internet these days and the way you send your mails, possibly using bulk mail could be the reason for the mail bouncing back to you. So my advice is that you do not send the mail all together, you can use BCC but not so many mails at the same time... Otherwise, you will be blocked by may email providers except of course all the people you are mailing are on your contact lists.
Reply:It thinks your emails are spam. You obviously email a lot of people at once I'm guessing, which doesn't help. I think largely it will be picking up words that are associated with spam emails. If you are asking for donations or something it could be picked up as being a phishing email or something.

If you can't fill out their forms, you'd best get in touch with them, or get a different email account, which is specifically set up for business purposes.

It constantly keeps asking to verify my account with those letter and number things, even though I do it correctly, it still asks to confirm my account and won't let me send an email.

I've asked in Windows Live Help Centre, 2 Windows Live staff have said they've fixed my problem, but I still can't send emails for the same reason as before.

Does anyone know if there's anything I can do, or do I have to wait until they fix it?

Last night I opened my Hotmail in Safari no problem whatsoever and now when I try to log into Hotmail it keeps looping around and around redirecting through the same 3 domains but never finishing and opening up my inbox. I can log into it from Firefox but I'd rather use Safari. Anyone else having Hotmail login problems with Safari?

Windows switched me automatically to Windows Live Hotmail. It messed up my Hotmail account.

When I click on Reply it takes me to my Outlook Express account and forces to reply from there. What a mess! I have no idea how to correct it.

I am sure what I did in Hotmail set up POP accessing my OE has a lot to do with it. It messes up everything.

I want if possible to switch back to Windows Live Messenger. I want to turn POP (accessing my OE) off.

I got a real mess in Hotmail now.

This friend, who I met on the internet, is very annoying. I already blocked her on MSN from keeping her from contacting me, but she wouldn't stop. She keeps sending me emails everyday, I tell her to stop, she wouldn't. D=

How do I block her emails completely? For example, when she tries to send me an email, she receives a message or something that says things like my inbox is full or she can't send an email to me for some reason.

I don't want to just block her emails, like the way where you block and you don't see it. She'll think I just ignore them. I want her to think that her emails are not being sent to me.

Please help? I'm desperate.

I use messenger for Mac and have my Hotmail account to automatically remember my e-mail address and password. Yet whenever i try click the link to check my e-mail form the messenger window I'm taken to the Windows like Hotmail sign-in window (from within my browser) with an error saying I've entered my password or e-mail address incorrectly. I dunno what to do. It's been like this since August and changing my password doesn't work. Any idea's?

Hi guys recently hotmail updated its email service with a new kinda theme.

I am having troubles sending mail using this theme.

When i click on NEW to send an e mail, the new mwssage page opens , I type in the destination e mail address and the subject and can also attach stuff.

The problem is i cant write anything in the mail . Like i am unable to write any text with my mail. There is a text box for writing stuff in ur mail although I am unable to select it. Its frozen and cant be written into.

Plz help need to send some urgent e mails

The past week or so i havn't been able to open any of my emails on Windows Live Hotmail everytime i try to open one i just get a "javascript" at the bottom of the page and it won't open any of my emails. The only way i can get into my email is by opening MSN Line and on the "Today" thing that pulls up i can click on one of the messages. I also can't send, delete make a new message. Any idea whats up? how do i fix it?

I tried making Outlook Express work with Windows Live Hotmail, because I am tired of having to log onto the internet all the time to check my mail, and that did not work, apparently because Hotmail doesn't allow it. So I tried downloading Mozilla Thunderbird and setting that up to work with my Hotmail account, but it was too confusing, and I did not understand how to get around Hotmail's rules of not using a mail program in order to do so. I WANT to keep my Hotmail account because I have had it for a long time, and that is the email that many, many people %26amp; websites have. Are there ANY mail programs out there that can easily be manuevered around Hotmail's rules and used to set it up with? Or can someone give me step by step instructions on how to do it with Mozilla Thunderbird (I found the directions very difficult on the only site that I could find detailing how to connect Thunderbird with Windows Live Hotmail!) Any help or suggestions would be SO much appreciated!

all you need to do is this:

►sign in►tools►change display picture

this is all done on the main WLM page where all of your contacts are displayed.

then all you do is you simply choose a chosen photo of your choice, and it will be there again.

it will only occur on one account if it does on any, it will not affect all of the computers accounts.

What's up with Windows Live Hotmail?

Everything was fine this morning. The only new thing was I downloaded Internet Explorer 8, but it was working after I did that.

Here's the deal:

I go to www.hotmail.com

I log in as usual, and this message comes up instead of my inbox:

"You don't have an inbox...yet

Sign up for Windows Live Hotmail and get a free, customizable inbox with lots of storage and great security.

Note: Whether you use Hotmail or not, you can always go to your contact list."

Well, first off, I HAVE an inbox - or at least I did this morning. Second, when I click the link to sign up for windows live mail, it takes me to a screen with the following option:

"Already using Hotmail, Messenger, or Xbox LIVE? Sign in now"

Even though I'm already signed in, I hit "sign in" again, and log in, and I get back to the first screen saying I don't have an inbox. This continues in circles.

Since that was getting me nowhere, I then tried to fill out the form to get a windows live id, but now it's saying that my current email id is already taken (and it is a very rare id since not many have my last name).

What happened? Where did my inbox go? Will I ever be able to get my old messages back? And what about all the important emails I'll be missing? That email address is my "business" email address I give out to my school, bank, doctor, etc.

What gives?

Oh, and I've searched through every "help" link possible and the best I could get was that hotmail doesn't exist anymore and that all @hotmail stuff is now @live stuff, but it doesn't tell me why my entire account is inaccessible to me without warning, and I have yet to find a way to talk to an actual person from Microsoft.

Okay. I need advice.

I just got an e-mail with the following:

'This Email is from Hotmail Customer Care and we are sending it to every Hotmail Email User Accounts Owner for safety. we are having congestions due to the anonymous registration of Hotmail accounts so we are shutting down some Hotmail accounts and your account was among those to be deleted. We are sending this email to you so that you can verify and let us know if you still want to use this account. If you are still interested please confirm your account by filling the space below.Your User name, password, date of birth and your country information would be needed to verify your account. '

I know that NORMALLY these are sent through chain mails, and don't mean anything, but this wasn't in a chain mail. I don't know what to do because it's asking for my password and username details.

It's probably just a scam, right?! Because the e-mail sending it is 'k22cat@hotmail.com' and that doesn't sound very professional. But then when you click reply, it says the sender is hotmailupgraders or something like that.

Help?!

I find the wording hilarious -

Hotmail has had problems with spurious anonymous registrations for many years as people would create them to send out spam. So now those brats are trying to steal existing accounts - yours.

I use gmail for three reasons. The main one is that it does an amazine job, right off the bat, of trapping and filtering spam. I get a lot of annoying spam, so it helps.

The second one, is that it is (or at least was, at the time) the only "freebie" that lets you forward email automatically and lets you set an automatic response while you're on vacation.

And the third is, it gives you access to Google Apps, which is where you can set up a free website (if you're already paying for a domain NAME).

I used to use hotmail but I've started using Gmail and never looked back. If you decide you want to change away from Gmail, they will even let you redirect all your mail to another account (e.g. hotmail), which you can't do on hotmail.

In my dad's laptop, in the Window Live Hotmail main page, he is able to have multiple accounts on it at once so that he can click on whichever account he wants to sign in and he will be asked to type in the password and he wil be signed in.

On my computer, I have to type in the e-mail address and the password to sign it. On my computer, the Windows Live Hotmail main page only allows to have one e-mail address at once.

Your code is fine, the problem is Windows Live Hotmail does not fully support HTML. However, the original Hotmail (prior to Windows Live) does, but people can no longer get a Hotmail account after they have upgraded to Window Live.

The best option is PHPList, an open source script. Open source means it is free and available to the public, everyone can use it, and modify it if they wish. You need to install the script to your website. Once installed you can easily migrate your customer list and start emailing them in bulk. PHPList has other features, you can download it at http://www.phplist.com and install it on your website by yourself. Although the website includes instructions if you find difficulty you can raise a ticket at their website (they charge minimum 拢75) or at http://www.instantbooks.info they charge far less, about 拢30.

If you do not want to go through a script installation and you want a simple way there is another option:

Send the email in HTML format from your website to your Windows Live Hotmail account. Open the email, highlight it and copy it. To copy it, press Ctrl + C on your keboard while it is highlighted. Then click on Send (to open a window for a new message) and paste it in the text area. To paste it, first left-click the mouse button in the text-area then press Ctrl + V on your keyboard.

After you have sent the email go to the Sent folder, tick the email and save it in a folder of your own, available for next time.

When you need to send the same email again, go to the folder where you saved the email, and highlight it %26amp; paste it like before.

Hopefully one of the 2 options will solve your problem, the first option is reliable if you have a growing list or if you send newsletters frequently.

Tip: Remember to include a unsubsribe link at the bottom of your newsletter; easy with PHPList.

I upgraded to the beta version and now all I get i slow pauses even wheh typing. also I tried to sort out my contact and its a complete pain.

No sir, no problems. Been using Hotmail Live for the last 4 months. With that said, as you can probably tell, the new beta version is much more graphic intensive. This means that the pages will take longer to load if you have a slower connection. In general, it will always be slower than the older version. I also know that when you sign it, it tries to adjust the view of the screen according to your resolution, so it does the whole thing where it says "loading" and the circle thingy goes around.

It's just the price for a better looking mail client. You can always switch back. Once you sign in, it's the option on the left hand side.

Error with Windows Live Hotmail [Unable to read/delete mail]?

Since yesterday, I've been trying to read and delete mail that are unread in my Windows Live Hotmail Inbox, however, when I click on the message, or click the Delete button, the server does not respond and so nothing comes out and the mail does not get deleted.

On the Status Bar of my Internet Explorer it says "javascript:;" and "Done, but with errors on page".

I was wondering if it's a server problem because most of my peers are able to delete and read their mail.

I've tried using Mozilla Firefox, but the same error occurs.

I'm also not able to access the Junk Mail, Drafts, Sent and Deleted folders.

Please assist me in this problem; all help is greatly appreciated. :)

Hi if u're from singapore u can solve it by following the instructions below:

Go to internet explorer, Internet options, Connections, Lan Settings, Check the Use a proxy server for your LAN box, and input the following information:

I think I found the solution to this problem.

If you are using Firefox, please disable AdBlock Plus (or any other ads blocking plugin) temporary for this particular session before you open mail.live.com.

If you are using IE7, please disable "Pop-up blocker".

After once you login, you should be able to surf as per normal.

It seems that Hotmail don't like people to block their inner ads.

I had the same problem. But i use firefox on macbook.

So i had to use the IE on pc everytime i want to check my mails.

basically my friend got annoyed with me and told me he put all the emails i sent him in the junkbox and said i was sending him a phising scam so my account has been closed "due to violations of use " even though i didn't do anything wrong. I have tried sending an email support form to get my account re-opened but it just sends an automatic response email which just explains what i already know and is no help at all.

Cannot read Live Hotmail emails, possibly due to javascript?

I cannot read any of my hotmail emails, but I can still compose them. It might be due to javascript as my Safari Browser shows [Run script ";"], which after clicking causes nothing to happen.

This happens to all my browsers, even Firefox, Flock, even Webkit. I use a Mac and this also happens to my Windows PC. I even tried updating javascript, but clicking on the messages doesn't work.

I cannot open the full version either, it does not load at all.

Does anyone know how to fix this? If you don't, do you know any mail applications that can work with the free version of Hotmail offline? Thanks!

ok i have had an xbox live acount since they first made live. i had had it on my 360 till that got fried and had to use the backup on my memory card(it was hacked because they can only be in 1 storage unit at a time, and u cant get it off of there because of that). i recently lost he memory unit and i need to us the recovery option but i dont remeber any of the acount details because i use yahoo, and that was just a spare acount for the live. i dont know the exact recovery awnsers but close, so can someone help me. i just need to be able to find the password for the email address to recover the live acount...

Ever since msn decided to updgrade to live id ,I cannot get into my mail in firefox (it always says its redirecting the page in a way that will never finish). I also have problems getting it to load sometimes in IE as well, much faster from toolbar in messenger. Also messenger is disconnecting alot lately. I prefer to use firefox thougn, and hotmail is my main email, so I reall y need help, getting none from microsoft. I connect via Verizon Fio via wireless usb.802.11. I never had a problem till they changed to live id.

Hi there

Most mornings, but rarely at other times, I get an error message when using Hotmail via Internet Explorer. It's not a pop up, but a yellow band across the screen above "sort by". It says:

Please refresh your browser window. When you access your Windows Live Hotmail account from more than one computer, we ask you to sign in again to help keep your account private and secure.

I am not signed in on two computers and I always log out when I'm done.

My SUSPICION is that someone logs in on a morning to read my e-mails (I do have good reason to think this). When I mentioned it to this person, the error messages mysteriously stopped for a week, which really made me wonder.

So my question is - can this error message mean anything OTHER than 'I' am logged in on two computers?

NB: I don't ever have to log in again or re-supply my password, you can 'click out' the error.

You should change your password to a more secure one. Then run a complete scan for viruses, adware and spy ware. You may have a key-logger spyware on your computer.

Hi, when i access my hotmail inbox to check my e-mails and I click on an unread e-mail, nothing happens. I have noticed that in the bottom-left hand corner when it usually says 'Done' it says 'Error on page' when i put my mouse cursor over the unread e-mail, i also cannot do anything else like a new e-mail or check contacts. I recently got a new program called Malwarebytes and ran a scan and removed the bad stuff, could this have something to do with this problem?

I am not sure but does Windows Live Hotmail use Adobe Flash. If so I have seen a few problems with Flash after a Antivirus Xp 2008 infection.

Windows Live Hotmail - i changed the theme to pink, and the whole page has gone wrong..?

Basically, i've updated to the new Windows Live Hotmail - you shud have all recieved a message that it is changing - its the same as before except it looks just a tad different.

So i went to options and changed the theme to light pink with the roses, and then suddenly everything has changed and i cant read my new e-mails properly, i cant even send an e-mail coz theres no send button and basically everything is weird =S

So i thort of going back to the options button and changing the theme back, but theres no options button =S And the whole front page with news and everything has all disappeared...

I can't read any e-mail messages in my hotmail account, can't even seen the list of from and subject list. It is all one solid blank page sometimes yellow or green. I can log in but get nothing in there at all. I wonder is it windows 98 SE or something do do with windows 98 SE? I can get into hotmail and actually see the list of e-mail , open and read them on a computer with windows XP but not on windows 98. This is weird! Is there a way to just look at plain hotmail and not have it live?

Check your javascript settings (make sure they are on).

Also try updating your Flash.

Lastly, you can clear your cache (Temporary Internet Files).

This is assuming, of course, that you are using Internet Explorer. What version of IE are you using? Might try updating that to the latest version if you aren't already.

I am running Mac OS X Leopard and using Safari, and I have never had a problem before now, but when I log in to hotmail, it doesnt let me navigate to my messages.

I can click on inbox and it opens, but it wont let me open messages or go to the next page or look at other folders, although all the links appear clickable...

Also recently hotmail has started to mark messages as unread if i've just read them then reload my inbox page.

Can anyone help?

This isn't very helpful but I can empathize... I had this problem on Firefox on Windows and Live Mail only worked with Internet Explorer. But now I have a Macbook with OS X Leopard and Safari and it works so maybe it is something to do with your individual account- maintenance or something? If I try it with messenger it says my password or username is incorrect, however, I didn't change anything.

On Blackberry I received a message the password had been changed and couldn't change it back. When I tried a bit later, I was able to put in my own password again and it said it was successful, although it doesn't synchronize, but then, it doesn't synchronize at all at the moment.

For some reason when I click on the "email" button on windows life messenger, it's supposed to send me to my inbox for hotmail.com. But now whenever I try on my computer, it will open the page but not load it. Instead, it will load maybe the top bar of graphics and buttons then it resets and constantly does that. I can get to my hotmail inbox on Firefox without a problem. This only happens on firefox and IE is the default browser that windows live will open your inbox too. So does anyone have any way to fix this?

my mum just got an ipod for her birthday and i got one before her. I downloaded itunes on her computer and now she has an ipod i had to download it on mine. Her computer has all my music on so she tried to send it to me via hotmail..the message says.. The message is ready to be sent with the following file or link attachments:

Don't forget though - copying music without the owners permission is ILLEGAL

i signed out of windows live messenger, then only a few minutes later i tried to sign in again, and it said 'we cant sign you into windows live messenger' i clicked continue and it led me onto the hotmail sign in website and it said..

Every time I try to sign in to my regular hotmail account, it promts me to sign up for Windows live hotmail. It won't let me get into my emails! The only thing it will allow me to do is to create a new windows live hotmail account.

Will I be able to read my old emails if I get the new account? OR is there any way to bypass this prompt and get into my hotmail like I always do?

Creating a new account will not get you access to your existing account.

Microsoft has been forcing people to upgrade to the new format. You shouldn't lose anything once you switch over. When you do switch over, you can choose to use the Classic View which is very similar to the old hotmail format.

All you need for a Xbox live account to be recovered is your Windows Live ID (Hotmail account usually).

for a start access the xbox live website look 4 any links to I forgot my gamertag or something..

Also check your email for any old emails that might say Welcome to Xbox live (they usually write ur gamertag in there).

Problems with new "live hotmail"?

The new live hotmail won't let me access any of my messages.

I just keeps trying to load "loading" and below it there is a yellow exclamation and either "error on page", "javascript:;" or "done", no matter which message I highlight.

That's it nothing more happens and it takes an age to get out of it!!!!

Anybody else having these problems ? Hotmail worked fine before they updated it!

this use to happen to me when they first lanched this new type of hotmail.

Since then they have improved its loading time etc but this problem is caused partly because of hotmail but also by your net connection .. if you are on dial up .. you might think about not using hotmail because it needs broadband to connect

Somehow my old hotmail is gone and in its place is this crappy "live" hotmail...how do I go back to the way it has been for 10 years??Don't tell me about the switch to "classic" button on the left...it says I am currently running "classic" and when i switch it just gets weirder.....I am not looking for "live" anything just the stuff that is old and "outdated"...and btw...WORKED GREAT!!!

Move to google gmail or Yahoo mail. Hotmail live stinks, there are many bugs like the message being forwarded becoming unreadable. It also changes the sort on the contact list, so they are all messed up. I ended up moving to gmail, it is pretty cool.

Reply:every now and then MSN servers stop accepting requests. leave it for a while and try logging in later and you should find it works fine.
Reply:Contact your cable supplier. The problem can be resolved very quickly once you get to speak to a "live" technician, He/she will walk you through the adjustments required while you are on the phone. I just had mine "fixed" last week. It took about 2 minutes of their and my time.

Have you used your Windows Live ID in a long time? After a couple of months your ID begins to expire with everything attatched to it. (Xbox Live etc.) So, you lose your 8 months of Live. Your going to have to make a new ID and a new Xbox Live account.

Windows live messenger signs me in automatically and gives me the today page showing my emails and then i get windows live hotmail which is fine, except when i click on the mail tab of msn it gives me a different version called windows live mail.How do i get it back to live hotmail on the mail tab?

well i was typing my password and it asked me to do it again so i assumed i had typed it wrong, so the next time i signed in it asked me to type my password because it was wrong so i started all over and i typed my password correctly and it said it was wrong, so the second time i typed it, i got on so i change my pass but it still does it. Has this happened to anyone else? how do i fix it?

I was expecting an email which was definatly sent to my hotmail account, however when i checked my email it wasnt in the inbox or junk email folder. I have checked my settings and the filter settings and all seems fine. Please help me?!?!?!

if you didn't receive it, either your mailbox is full or the sender accidently sent it to the wrong address. Sometimes it can even take an entire day to receive an email at hotmail due to their heavy load. Contact the sender and inquire about it.

Reply:It takes a little while for email to be sent/received. Especially for high traffic websites that are sending automated emails, this delay can be upto a few hours. Just be patient, or perhaps ask the sender / request the website to resend you an email.

You cannot do anything about it I'm afraid. My sister and I only had this self conversation a couple of weeks ago as she sends me quite a lot of emails from her friends, and I told her they were hard to decipher. Now I copy the email onto another page and delete all the offending arrows first before trying to read them! Its a pain and it's very long winded but it's the only way I could cope, lol:-(

I suggest not using hotmail or any other email service besides GMAIL!

I highly reccomend gmail, it is very safe and to me it is the funnest/ easiest/ email service I have ever used.. you can get started here..

search gmail using google and once you get there go to the right hand side and click Sign up! you wont regret it.

I have just switched over to Windows Live Hotmail. ON my old MSN hotmail, i could control how many emails per page it showed. I can't seem to find how to do that on Windows Live Hotmail. Does anybody know how??

Msn hotmail had some really nice features which WLM doesnt provide. Try checking your mail preferences again there might be a tweak for that or revert back to Msn hotmail if you can . Dont you miss the old interface? =)

Well I want to try out the new Windows Live Hotmail, but when I cllick Update, I get this:

in this so-called great thing..i can't send by selecting groups!!

Reply:If it is in your junk folder, move it to your inbox. That can help.

They have changed the format of Hotmail and it's more confusing now. I have filters set to send most unknown stuff to the junk mail folder, so whenever I have a problem I just move the mail to the inbox and it seems to work.

Also, if you have javascript blocked, enable it.

How do I turn my normal Hotmail account back because I really don't like the Windows Live Hotmail, and when I click the classic version it still gives me the Windows Live Hotmail and I just want hotmail... You can't, it's been phased out. Windows Live Hotmail was officially released to new users on May 7, 2007, and roll-out to all existing users is said to be completed by November.
